About Us

Perishable Distributors of Iowa, LTD was established in 1982 with the goal to provide a distribution system that would supply quality perishable products to Hy-Vee Food Stores in a cost-efficient and timely manner. From the beginning PDI has prided itself on offering fair prices and superior customer service to Hy-Vee stores. Today PDI is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hy-Vee Inc., a supermarket chain with sales of more than $8 billion and more than 237 retail stores operating in eight states: Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Our corporate office and 385,000 square-foot warehouse and maintenance facility is located in Ankeny, Iowa. PDI operates three shifts, seven days a week, offering next day service. We service over 450 customers including, our Contract Delivery and Brokerage services, traveling approximately 175,000 miles each week.

With 2014 Fiscal Year sales reaching over $1 billion dollars and a product list of more than 5,000 fresh and frozen items, PDI is one of the largest food distribution companies in the Midwest.
